The British bookmaker William Hill has recently lodged an appeal before the Greek justice after his request for authorization for operating activities of betting in Greece had been rejected.

In order to contribute to creating an open market, the British betting company William Hill wants to offer its activities under the same conditions of society to sports betting Greek (Opap)
The company sports betting Greek (Opap), among the most important in Greece, held for about 35% by the State, in the monopoly controls all sports betting since 1996.
Despite the obligation of Greece to comply with European legislation and to open its market, the request for authorization of the British betting William Hill was rejected, that episode did in Athens receive a letter of formal notice by the European Commissioner for Internal Market.
